Young Stars on Water Shone On Lake Van

On 7th June 2012 Lake Van became the stage of two championships, both organized by Istanbul Offshore Club. Isiklar World Offshore 225 Championship was followed by IOC Formula Future Turkey Championship and the people of Van had a great day full of sports events.
Formula Future Turkey champions are: Taha Kalkan (2004) in Class 1’, Emir Caniş (2001) in Class 2’, Baran Caner (2000) in Class 3’, Baran Enterilli (1997) in Class 4 and Hakan Akdeniz (1996) in Class 5’.


Aiming to instill the love of water sports in the youth and to raise young athletes who will represent Turkey in the international arena in the future, the project took place for the first time in Van. Following extensive trainings and eliminations held in June and early July in Van, 50 young athletes competed to take their place in the national team which will represent Turkey in the World Championship in Prague, the capital of Czech Republic.

The day eagerly awaited by all participants finally arrived. The final races of the IOC Formula Future Turkey Championship were run on Saturday, July 7, 2012 on Lake Van. In the finale of the organization that aimed the 8-18 age group the competition among 10 Young Stars on Water started at 4.00 pm.

Raced against time and completed with the tie-knotting challenge, the final competition for championship was between finalists Simge Zirek and Taha Kalkan in Class 1, Muhammed Karakoyun and Emircan Is in Class 2, Bedirhan Enterilli and Baran Caner in Class 3, Elif Zirek and Baran Enterilli in Class 4 and Hakan Akdeniz and Hakan Can in Class 5.

The national athletes who will represent Turkey in the UIM Formula Future World Championship on August 17 - 19, 2012 in Prague and whose sportswear are sponsored by Puma received their trophies on Sunday, July 8, 2012 at an Awards Ceremony (live broadcast at 3.00 pm) that took place with the presence of Munir Karaloglu, Governor of Van.
