This year on Cabotage Day, July 1st, 2012 Istanbul Offshore Club President Ugur Isik will attempt to break the long-distance endurance record for the Hopa to Iskenderun course which was attempted several years ago by Ismet kalafatoglu and Turgut Kaynak. As Mr. Isik is getting ready for the event, two 1,000 HP Lamborgini engines are being prepared in Italy for his 14-meter Class 1 catamaran. Preparations are under way for the challenging course estimated to last three days. The course is planned to start at Hopa and continue with refuel stops at Ordu, Sinop, Bartın, Istanbul, Canakkale, Cesme, Bodrum, Kas and Anamur, and end in Iskenderun.

Ali Canko is expected to join this great record breaking attempt with the boat he will bring from Italy. Kerem Tuncer, last season’s World Offshore 225 champion, is also getting ready to join the attempt.
