Uğur Işık’s Boat “Işıklar” Racing in the Class 1 Championship at Elio Sedef

Uğur Işık, President of Istanbul Offshore Club, brought the powerboat, which he as the only Turkish pilot has been racing on in the Class 1 World Offshore Championship since the 2011 season, to Turkey for test runs.

Prior to the second leg of the “Class 1 World Offshore Championship” which will be run in Gabon, a press conference was held at Elio Sedef Restaurant, one of the most favored spots among Istanbul’s popular entertainment venues, to promote Isiklar team and their boat Isiklar painted in the colors of the Turkish flag. The event took place with the attendance of all the teams’ members from Norway, Ireland and the US while pilots Ugur Isik and Christian Zaborowski tested their boat for the first time at Sedef Island.
Ugur Isik, IOC President, said that he was very proud to be the only Turkish pilot racing in this championship and added, “We prepared our boat using the colors of our flag. Our goal is to take our place on the podium and to complete this ultimate offshore sports event successfully.”
The championship started with its first leg run in Doha, Qatar; it will continue with stops at Gabon on July 12-14, at Siracusa, Italy (Aug 31-Sep 2), Cernobbio, Italy (Sep 21-23), Dubai, UAE (Dec 13-15) and end in Abu Dhabi, UAE on Dec 19-21.
