Işıklar World Offshore 225 Championship’s fourth round will be held in Erdek-Balikesir, one of the oldest seaside resorts in Turkey. Organized with the contributions of Erdek Municipality, a lovely town situated on the Kapidag Peninsula in Balikesir, the seventh and eighth races of the championship will take place at Ice & Sun Beach Club located at Kurbagli Beach on June 17th and 18th.

Eleven local and international teams (Besiktas-Miele; GSYIAD-GS; Olympic Marseille; YKM Sport; WD40; Franke; Stihl; Lenore Yacht; Angel Yacht -1; Viking; Angel Yacht-2) and 22 pilots will participate in the fourth round of the Championship. Joseph - Berna Muhlbauer duo of team GSYIAD-Galatasaray is the current leader in general classification with 906 points following the last race that was run in Adana and now all eyes are on the races in Erdek to see who the winners will be.

Stihl Wins Both GP’s In Erdek…

The fourth round of Isiklar World Offshore 225 Championship ended with the races held in Erdek and Sunday’s winner was again Alpay Akdilek and Kerem Tuncer of Stihl, the previous day’s winning team and 2009 World champions. Stihl team finished the race with a total time of 45:08,046 followed by, 37 seconds later, YKM Sport of Kerim Zorlu and Cengiz Cennetoğlu. After their brilliant podium finish performance on Saturday, İlker Özmen and Umur Duyar, the young pilots of Lenore Yacht team succeeded to step on the third place of the podium again on Sunday’s race with a time of 45:10;96.

After the victory in Adana, Stihl secured its leading position in the general classification by increasing their total points to 1132 with a double win in Erdek; GSYIAD-Galatasaray follows with 1092 points in second place and Besiktas-Miele in third with 989 points.

Organized with the contribution of Erdek Municipality, the eigth race of Isiklar World Offshore 225 Championship was completed with the victory of Stihl team, making it a double win in one weekend. The races started with the qualifying rounds in the morning and Stihl, the winner of previous day, took pole position with a time of 01.24,094; 4 seconds behind them was Lenore, the previous day’s second. The third contender YKM Sport’s time in the qualifying rounds was 01:29,313 and the race, with nine teams at the lineup, started at 2.00 pm.

Olympique de Marseille boat piloted by Jerome Brarda and Max Dessaux hit GSYİAD-Galatasaray boat, piloted by Ali Tanır and Tuğberk Uca, at a buoy turn in the first lap and went over them while GS boat almost flipping after the collision. GSYİAD-GS made its first pit stop to assess the damage and continued with the race.

The collision between Angel Yacht (Cengiz Siklaroglu - Aybars Turna) and Franke (Hakan Vanli - Tufan Aker) boats resulted with a serious damage to the Franke boat forcing them to retire; therefore the race was completed with 8 teams.

The winners received their trophies from Huseyin Aysan, Mayor of Erdek, Omer Uludag, Velutsan Deputy General Manager, Mahmut Poyraz, AKP Provincial Organization President, Ismail Kaygisiz, District Governor of Erdek, Ahmed İbrahim Boloushi, UIM Commissioner and Ugur Isik, IOC President.

The next round of the championship will be held in Elazig and Tunceli on July 2-3, 2011.
