Fatih Municipality Grand Prix, the 7th leg of Architon 2010 World Offshore 225 Championship was run on Saturday, September 25 in Haliç. 05 GSYİAD 1905 team piloted by Berna Muhlbauer and Josef Muhlbauer couple displayed a very successful performance throughout the race. The couple ranked second last season in the world championship and in this GP, they raced together on the 05 GSYİAD boat. They lost their lead position to 2 YKM due to a glitch in pit stop and they were followed by 03 Beşiktaş 1903 team.

Never ending excitement!
The contention among archrivals 02 YKM Sport, 05 GSYİAD Galatasaray and 03 Beşiktaş teams was breathtaking. Throughout the race 67 Olympique De Marseille breathed down 03 Beşiktaş boat’s neck and finished in fourth place. 03 Beşiktaş had to slow down in the last laps of the race due to overheating problems but it bounced back and succeeded to finish third without losing its position.
From football fields to Haliç
Andre Dos Santos, one of Fenerbahçe football club’s players, came to Haliç to watch the offshore races in the weekend. In reply to a question about why Fenerbahçe didn’t have a boat in the championship in which its archrivals Galatasaray and Beşiktaş competed, Santos said, “I hope we as Fenerbahçe Club will take our place in this championship soon”.
Mustafa Demir, Mayor of Fatih as the host of the race stated: “Haliç that separates the historical peninsula from Beyoğlu is one of the most beautiful areas in Istanbul. Known as the “Golden Horn” by the Europeans, Haliç is one of the foundation blocks of Istanbul’s culture tourism. As the Municipality of Fatih, we are very pleased to be hosting the Architon 2010 World Offshore 225 Championship for the second time. We are proud to utilize the potential of the Gulf of Haliç for water and motor sports in this type of organizations. I wish continued success to all the teams and pilots competing in the Championship.”
